How The Proper Diet Helps To Manage Panic Attacks

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

By Kurt Hurley Indeed, we truly are what we eat There is a saying For every action, theres an equal and opposite reaction. And yes unequivocally, the foods you eat or dont eat do in fact have a significant effect when it comes to causing or curbing panic attacks. In this article, you will find the means to prevent panic attacks by virtue of controlling, avoiding, or reducing the foods that trigger this disorder. You will also be encouraged to consume more foods that minimize the on-set of anxiety and panic attacks, with an emphasis on balance and moderation. Panic attacks do directly affect the nervous system and eating foods rich in B vitamins will help to reduce angst and also induce a calming effect, while delivering nourishment for a healthy nervous system. Listed under the B vitamin group, Vitamin B12, Thiamin, and Niacin have a direct correlation in helping maintain nervous system balance and diminish the susceptibility to panic attacks. In more ways than one, these nutrients can assist in the preparedness and help to ward off and manage nervous system disorders. While adhering to a moderate, balanced diet and emphasizing the B vitamin and mineral complex, the following can serve as an ideal food structure, in reference to your diet: 1.Consume twenty percent of meat, poultry, seafood (salmon, swordfish, tuna, clams, crab, mussels, and oyster), and products made from soybeans like tofu, eggs, and cheese.2.Consume thirty to thirty-five percent of baked potato, broccoli, asparagus, peanuts, legumes, watermelon, and oranges.3.Consume forty to forty-five percent of brown rice, whole grain cereal, pasta, wheat germ, oatmeal, and rye bread. While the above food groupings are rich in B vitamins, they can and will help (through the maintenance of a well-balanced nutrition regimen) reduce panic attacks and anxiety occurrences. Listed below are three consumables that are sure to aggravate anxiety disorders and should be eliminated or whole-heartedly managed. Alcohol is one of these substances; it raises hyperactivity in the nervous system and elevates alertness. Although, being alert is not necessarily a bad thing; alcohol induced alertness causes agitation and irritability. If alcohol cannot totally be avoided, the least you should do is to cut down your intake gradually until it reaches ground zero. Some individuals tend to have secondary triggers of anxiety when withdrawal from a substance is abrupt. The consumption of caffeine is another trigger of panic attacks; it is a stimulant and elevates heart rate. Just like alcohol, withdrawal from caffeine might incite a secondary anxiety in the form of the shakes, irritation and possible feelings of exhaustion. For coffee drinkers, try the decaffeinated variety. Gradually reduce the strength and lower the frequency in which you consume coffee and other caffeine-rich drinks like cola, tea, and chocolate. I, of course recommend green tea for numerous reasons, in fact I have written several articles on the wonders of green tea, if you want to find out more about green tea and its innumerable health benefits, I encourage you to discover for yourself at: http://www.kreatefitness.com/articles.shtml. The third substance to avoid is sugar. Sugar contains only negligible nutrients and is loaded with empty calories. So, how is sugar related to panic attacks? Glad you askedsugar causes hyperactivity, thereby bringing about emotional imbalance that may ultimately lead to panic attacks. Sugar also initiates mood swings. The sugar from the starchy and simple carbohydrates that you eat when digested and assimilated, will then lead to fermentation and subsequently is broken down into alcohol (as mentioned earlier, alcohol raises stress levels that can lead to panic attacks). And contrary to what the uneducated masses believe, this alcohol is no different than the fermented alcohol that you purchase from the local liquor store. In conclusion and to briefly summarize Maintaining healthy eating habits is one of the most imperative prerequisites that contribute to a life free from panic attacks, depression and a whole host of other disorders and possible diseases. Earnestly strive to maintain a proper balanced diet, especially when youre busy. Your health should be your principal concern, after all, without health there is nothingbelieve you me! 7 Secrets to Losing Belly Fat and Getting a Flat Stomach

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

By Jamie Clark Interested in losing your belly fat and getting a flatter, leaner, and sexier stomach? Want to look better in a bathing suit while getting rid of that ugly (and dangerous) abdominal fat? It’s not necessarily “easy” but — with focus, determination, and continuous effort — it can be done in less time than you probably think. Follow the 7 steps below and you’ll soon be on your way to a leaner, healthier, and better-looking body… 1. Eat a balanced diet that is high in protein and includes plenty of “good” fats and carbs. Improving your eating habits is the first and most important step to reducing abdominal fat and losing weight. An effective “fat burning” diet is based around lots of high-quality proteins (such as lean meats, low-fat dairy, and whey protein), good amounts of healthy fats (such as nuts, seeds, olive oil and omega-3 fats) and enough high-fiber carbohydrates (such as fresh vegetables, fruits, and whole grains) to keep your energy levels high and your stomach feeling full. 2. Eat a good breakfast. It is extremely difficult to lose weight if you regularly skip breakfast. Eating a relatively large and healthy breakfast is one of the simplest, yet most effective, things you can do to keep your hunger in check, keep your energy high, and keep your metabolism going strong. At the very least eat some fresh fruit and yogurt in the morning so that you don’t overeat at lunch. A big breakfast is best but anything is better than nothing! 3. Drink 8-10 glasses of water per day. Drinking water throughout the day does lots of good things for your body and is an effective way to speed up the weight loss process. It helps you flush out toxins (very important when you’re trying to lose belly fat) and helps you maintain high energy levels. It’s also great for fat loss because it helps to optimize your metabolism so you burn fat even when you’re not working out. Finally, sipping water throughout the day and drinking a large glass right before meals is a very effective, safe, and easy way to reduce your appetite and prevent overeating. 4. Move as much as possible. Try to move as much as possible throughout the day. If the weather’s nice take a walk (or two). Don’t spend hours sitting at a desk without getting up every half hour or so and moving around a bit. Always take the “hard” way whenever possible. That means taking the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator. Park farther away from the door when you go to the mall, supermarket, etc. These extra efforts will quickly add up and you’ll burn more calories and lose more fat almost without realizing it. 5. Do higher-intensity cardio exercise 2-3 times per week. The best fat burning exercises are the ones that get your heart rate up and make you sweat for at least 20 minutes straight. It’s better to do 20 minutes of high-intensity aerobics than an hour of slow jogging. You’ll burn more fat — both during and after the workout — plus you’ll feel better and save your knees, hips, back, and ankles over the long run. 6. Do 1-2 intense, full-body strength training workouts per week. Working all your major muscle groups intensely, once or twice per week, is one of the best ways to burn body fat and look better fast. Full-body workouts that involve compound, multi-joint movements help to build muscle, burn fat, and strengthen your abdominal muscles… all at the same time. They also force your body to produce hormones that will continue to burn calories and strip off fat for hours after you’re done working out. If you don’t like weights that’s fine. Just do several sets of pushups, pullups, bodyweight squats, and lunges. These “big” exercises will give you a workout just as good as any you can get in the gym. 7. Set realistic goals. Increase your chances of weight loss success by creating realistic goals for yourself and reviewing those goals every day. Remember that you’re not going to be able to safely drop 10 pounds of fat in a week and you’re probably not going to have a totally flat stomach for at least a couple of months. It’s simply not possible to drop huge amounts of body fat very quickly in a safe and natural way. However, as long as you stay focused and determined — and you follow the healthy weight loss tips listed above every week — you absolutely will make great progress within a relatively short amount of time. Note: Always consult your doctor before you begin any new diet or exercise program, especially if you have existing health problems. Using Aromatherapy for Health and Happiness in Your Feng Shui Practice

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

By Judy Gunderson The ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans believed that essential oils had immense power on the state of health of both our body and mind. They believed that essential oils can invigorate and stimulate you, they can soothe and calm you, help you sleep, promote endurance, inspire and arouse you, refresh and rejuvenate you. For centuries, women and men alike have used scents to bring about desired results. With perfume and cologne, usually the purpose is to make you feel alive, attractive, alluring and yes, sometimes even sexy! : ) We use eucalyptus when we get colds, peppermint when we are nauseated & perfumed soaps to freshen our bodies and clothes - just to name a few. This might disappoint some of you, but Feng Shui is not just about placing a few items around your home with the hopes of obtaining financial security. It is about total well being and harmony with one’s self and one’s environment. While prosperity certainly plays a big part in how harmonious your life is, it is only one aspect of Feng Shui. So, what part does aromatherapy play in Feng Shui? Because Feng Shui practitioners concentrate on total well being, aromatherapy can be a vital part of your daily life - if you choose to practice it. While some people may scoff at the therapeutic effects of essential oils - there is a wide spread belief that they do work for certain things. It is believed that the aromatic molecules, when inhaled, travel to your brain and produce the desired results depending upon the scent you are using to stimulate it. Feng Shui practitioners not only use aromatherapy for your well being, but they also believe that pleasant aromas will dispel negative chi from your space. So, for example, if you are experiencing financial difficulties, you may want to light candles or other aromatic devices in the Southeast sector of your home which is your wealth sector. By the same token, if you are having problems with your kids, or marital problems, you may want to use aromatherapy for your East Sector or Southwest sector. There are several different ways of using aromatherapy to help create total well being. You can take a hot bath, dab diluted oil on the skin, burn incense or candles or use potpourri pots or oil burners to practice aromatherapy. My two personal favorites are candles and oil burners. I have oil burners in almost all the different sectors of my home and use them daily - sometimes all day long. I usually always have some sort of scent going in my office as it helps me concentrate on my tasks at hand. The type of burner I use varies by what sector it is in. For example, I have a sterling silver burner in my metal sector and a clay burner in my earth sector. The type of scent I use in my living room and kitchen depends upon the mood for the day and if my kids are calm or disruptive! : ) Please keep in mind that if you choose to practice aromatherapy, you must always begin with essential oils - NOT perfumed oil or water. You may also want to use cut essential oils instead of the pure oils because the pure oils are very over powering and can make your eyes burn and water. They also cannot be used on the skin. Aromatherapy is just one of the many reasons I love being a Feng Shui practitioner. I hope that you will experiment with it and have great results! Use the following essential oils to achieve the results you want: Tension: Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Bergamot, and Frankincense Worry: Frankincense, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Geranium, and Lemon Anxiety: Rose, Geranium, Lavender, Melissa, and Ylang Ylang Increase confidence & self-esteem: Rosemary, Lavender, and Fennel Depression: Sandalwood, Frankincense, Myrrh, and Clary Sage Romance: Rose, Geranium, Ylang Ylang, and Vanilla Judy Gunderson is a Feng Shui practitioner and has helped many clients over the years with consultations and supplying them with Feng Shui products on her website at http://learnaboutfengshui.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Judy_Gunderson http://EzineArticles.com/?Using-Aromatherapy-for-Health-and-Happiness-in-Your-Feng-Shui-Practice&id=85614 why student loans stop money how much get taking out of my paycheck no fax instant loans cash loan requiring no checking account

Possible Cure for Messy Toothpaste Disease

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

By D. Perse Is a messy toothpaste tube driving you crazy? Let me tell you - youre not the only one. Im quite sure that toothpaste has been a popular reason for fights between spouses or family members since its appearance in our daily routine which (at least for some people) happened a long time ago Toothpaste History 3000 to 5000 years B.C. the Egyptians were already making a dental powder/crme out of powdered ashes of oxen hooves, myrrh, burned egg shells, pumice and water. This powder or paste was probably applied onto the teeth by fingers since the toothstick (predecessor ot the toothbrush) had not been invented yet. Persians chose different ingredients in about 1000 B.C. Burnt shells of snails and oysters with gypsum were their magic formula. Romans improved the recipes by adding (among others) some flavoring agents, which also counteracted bad breath. Half a millennia later, around 500 B.C., we find records of toothpaste use in China and India as well. Modern toothpastes appear in 1800 A.D., developed by doctors, dentists and chemists in Britain. They contained some very abrasive substances (brick dust, crushed china, earthenware, cuttlefish) and even sugar. The poor still rubbed their teeth using fingers and for the rich toothbrushes were available. Mass production started in 1873 (by Colgate). Toothpaste was packed in a jar and for the first time in history it smelled good. U.S. Army included the brushing of teeth in their standard hygiene procedures in 1941. Toothpaste Today Nowadays, toothpastes come in a variety of colors, flavors, aromas, with fluoride or without it, with synthetic or natural ingredients, packed in plastic or tin tubes, dispensers etc. Theres one thing that hasnt changed, however. Some people simply dont mind spreading the toothpaste not only onto the toothbrush but all over the dispenser, the sink and probably other places also. Uppermost, they probably forget to put the cap back on the tube after use These sorts of (bad) habits can become a serious problem when such person shares the same bathroom with another kind of person who prefers toothpaste in a tube (always with the cap on when not in use) and on the toothbrush only. Until today, I havent heard of any cure that would heal the “messy toothpaste disease”. But Ive had a chance to learn about an interesting and at the same time amusing method a young lady just started using in her bathroom. Well call it “Doro-Method”. It involves putting up conspicuous post-it stickers with instructions around the area in question. By “conspicuous” I mean the size, the color and the wording you really cant miss or disregard easily. And shes told me so herself - its been working so far Theres no guarantee that the “Doro-Method” will work for you. In that particular house nobody ever comments on warnings or directions but they are being followed by every member of the household without exception. http://www.greetingcardservice.citymaker.com/page/page/3846992.htm D. Tips For Growing The Flowering Dogwood Tree

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

By Lee Dobbins When it comes to picking the trees to contribute to the landscape, it is great to be able to plant flowering trees to add color at eye level and one popular choice is the flowering dogwood tree. Dogwood trees, or the European Cornels as others would designate it, create a perfect impact to the environment. They are good choice for your landscape as their brilliant blossoms tend to last long. They are especially wonderful sight during autumn. On the average, a dogwood tree can grow from 20 to 25 feet in height. The spread of the dogwood can also reach as wide as 15 to 20 feet. The dogwood is part of the Cornaceae family, under the Cornus genus. It is known as the provincial flower of British Columbia in Canada and the state flower of Virginia, USA. The flowering dogwood trees generally have glossy green color. It has distinct opposite leaves, but there can be found some branches with the alternate order. All species of the dogwood bear fruits that have one or two seeds in it. On the other hand, the flowers of the dogwood have four parts. They usually come in clusters of yellow or white. They are also surrounded by greenish bracts that can be mistaken as petals. There is a popular story for the flowering dogwood tree. It was said to be the wood used to build the cross for the crucifixion of Christ due to its towering characteristic and hardwood. The tree then won the favour of God that it was turned into a smaller tree with gnarled and twisted trunks so that it will not be used again for that dire purpose. It was also given white flowers resembling the cross. The center area of the flower is reddish and is regarded as a symbol for the blood of Jesus. Dogwood trees are often used as ornaments. Nowadays, dogwoods can be found along water ways where they best give a natural effect to the landscape. The most favorite choice for this purpose are the species with bright yellow or red stems. The term dogwood is actually a variation of the word dagwood. This latter term is actually used to describe the slender stems that are characteristic of hard wood used for making daggers or skewers. This type of wood is also considered very useful in making tools, shuttles and other pieces that need strong wood. Dogwoods also bear fruits in bright and cherry red colors. These are very much loved by the birds. Most of the fruits in the genus where dogwood belongs are edible, though they are not found very favorable because it does not contain much flavor. Some berries can only be feasted on by birds as they are toxic to humans. Cultivating Flowering Dogwood Trees There are certain considerations to ensure that you grow well a healthy and blooming dogwood tree in your yard. Here are some points to take note of. 1. Characteristic of the Soil The dogwood can very well adapt to the different soil types that can provide it with basic nutrients. They can thrive in alkaline, acidic, loamy, sandy, clay or drought tolerant soils. Problems may arise if the dogwood is not given the proper conditions needed. At the least, it is preferable to provide soils that are rich in nutrients and well-drained after sufficient water supply. 2. Enemy Pests The Dogwood Borer is the main enemy of this flowering tree. This is most common in areas of the United States and Canada. They can cause damage by thriving in the bark of the trees to feast on its tissues. This pest will cause the tree to grow slowly or at the worst, kill it. Make sure this pests are prevented properly. 3. Preventing Diseases The flowering dogwood is also susceptible to the disease brought by dogwood anthracnose. The fungus Discula destructiva causes the devastation of the flowers before they can bloom. There are many things in nature that we can enjoy. One of its clear proofs is the flowering dogwood tree. So make sure you get to enjoy it in your own garden. Bring nature closer to home.
